Why can't I find the author I was looking for?

There may be several reasons:

Eye On Books has not yet interviewed that author.
Bill Thompson interviews some 400 authors every year -- he's done nearly 9,000 interviews since 1985 -- but he can't interview everyone. If your favorite author isn't here, e-mail us to ask if an interview is planned, or to suggest an author to interview. (If you are an author, suggest yourself!)

It's a self-published book. For a variety of reasons, Eye on Books does not interview the authors of self-published (or "vanity") books.

The Eye on Books interview with that author has been taken down from the site.
While we'd love to make every interview available forever, that is presently impossible. Interviews generally remain on Eye on Books for one year before they're taken down. (Some notable interviews will remain on the site longer than one year.) That may explain why you found the interview the last time you were here, but it's gone now. (Would you visit an Eye on Books Archive if we made one available? E-mail us to tell us.)

Did you misspell something?
Did you look for "A.S. Biatt" instead of "A.S. Byatt"? Or "Alan First" instead of "Alan Furst"?
